Social Media news snippets: 21 May-2 June
Facebook new page design - The long heralded new Facebook Page design is now being rolled out to Pages. When you visit your Page you’ll probably see the new design but note that your Fans won’t see the new design until you ‘Update Your Page’ - see screenshot below. You’ll notice that the positioning of the Profile Photo has changed, which might impact your Cover Photo image, especially if it displays text. If you need help with making the most of the new design please let me know.
You Buffer launch Topics - Social media dashboard Buffer has improved its Suggested Content feature with the addition today (3 June 2014) of Topics. Topics or content categories allow users to customise the content they publish based on their requirements and currently include Buffer Picks, Marketing, Inspiration, Business & Startups, Life Hacking and Design. Buffer is looking to expand the breadth of their Topics and is requesting suggestions for additional categories.
LinkedIn popularity contest - The professionals’ network LinkedIn has revamped its Who’s Viewed Your Profile feature by adding a new tool called How You Rank. This displays the most-viewed profiles from fellow employees and your network. The idea is to introduce an element of competitiveness to encourage users to polish their profiles and post more updates, to increase visibility. Members can look at the top performing profiles and learn lessons from them that they can apply to their own.
Multiple photos upload on Twitter - Having stated in March that up to 4 photos could now be uploaded in a single tweet, this handy functionality is now available on both the Twitter iOS and Android phone apps.
