How to add multiple managers to Google+ Pages

Updated: 14 July 2012

Google+ Pages can have multiple admins, called Managers, in addition to an Owner. As Owner of a Page you can invite other Google+ users to be Managers and if required transfer ownership. Note that only people who have been managers of a page for over 2 weeks can become the owner.

As is the case with Facebook Pages having multiple Admins or Managers is good practice. On Google+ Managers can share administration eg managing Circles, posting updates or stand in for one another. For example, another Manager can step in when the main Manager is on holiday or off sick.

You can have up to 50 named managers for your Google+ Page with all managers receiving notifications.  Visitors to the Page can’t see who is an owner or manager for privacy reasons.

To Add a new Manager, click the down arrow next to your Profile Picture at the top right of your Page then select Managers (see below). You can then add the email addresses of those you wish to invite as Managers.

Obtain more Twitter followers via LinkedIn

It’s important to have a good sized and quality audience on Twitter and a feature on LinkedIn can help.

You can now display a Follow button (see below) on your LinkedIn profile which makes it easy for those viewing your profile to follow you on Twitter.

To display this new button you’ll need to add your Twitter name. To do this go to Profile/Edit Profile. You’ll also need the LinkedIn Tweets app and authorise this with Twitter. To add this go to More/Get more applications, select Tweets and then authorise.

LinkedIn is a network for business professionals so this button should help you obtain new quality followers from visitors to your profile, whether or not they are connected to you on LinkedIn.

Whilst in the Tweets application ensure that all your tweets are NOT posted to LinkedIn; the vast majority of LinkedIn members don’t like seeing Twitter updates on their LinkedIn Home Page.

Attract visitors to your website

Here’s a tip that will help you obtain more visitors to your website and applies to LinkedIn, Google+ and the redesigned YouTube channels. These three social networks allow you to put at least three links onto your profile, or channel in the case of YouTube.

Take advantage of this and use the opportunity. Perhaps your only online presence is your website? If this is the case then link to three separate pages on your site and describe the links accordingly so perhaps your Website Name plus Contact Us and About Us.

You might also have other presences that you’ve forgotten about that could do with some visitors; YouTube, newsletter signup website, Picasa, Foursquare Page, event booking form or if you’re a freelancer you could highlight your LinkedIn profile.

Facebook Page web address with less than 25 Likes

You can now claim your Facebook Page address or vanity URL as it’s known before you’ve obtained 25 Likes for your Page. However, you can only do this if you’ve never claimed an address before. It’s not clear if Facebook has deliberately introduced this change or whether it’s just an anomaly.

So if you qualify as above or have more than 25 Likes then take advantage and claim an address that reflects your business name, is neater and easier to remember. Go to http://facebook.com/username to claim. Note that you can also claim your personal profile address here so make sure you are setting the address as required. That is, don’t set your Page name for your profile.

Looking for WiFi or a great cup of coffee?

The Foursquare website has had a revamp resulting in a new clean look and some new functions. The tip is to use the new List Search to find interesting and useful lists that can provide you with places to visit together with reasons why plus useful info.

As explained earlier this month in Using Foursquare as a city guide Lists are a great way to find your away around town, particularly one you haven’t visited before. The addition of this search function makes Foursquare even more useful as a guide. You can find venues to visit by searching for terms like movies, gallery, coffee or WiFi.

Not only do you get a Search function but a newspaper style display of venues in your area. The ability to search Lists has also been added to the main Foursquare Search where you can also search Venues, Tips and People.

How to edit your Google+ Page

A fairly basic tip this but I must admit I struggled to figure out how to edit my +Intranet Future Page when I tried to access it the next day after setting it up! Once you’ve set up your new Page, rather than go to the Page itself, you’ll need access it through your personal Google+ profile. Go to your home page and below your name and profile pic is a drop down menu. Open this menu to see your Page and select it to access and edit.

Adding Recommended Links to your Google+ Page

On your Google+ Page you can add what seems to be an unlimited number of Recommended Links. Go to your Page and select Edit Profile on the top right. Then click in the Recommended Link area. Then select Add custom link to add your website, blog, YouTube or a link to any site you like. Repeat to add more links then when you’re done select Save. You can edit or remove links as required.
